Okay, so I noticed everyone has deemed Ethel Cain as this writer for "religious trauma" just because she's trans and has good lyricism, but... she is also white first. I feel there's something she can't fully capture and understand.
Was listening to Rosalia's most recent album "Lux" and the specific songs regarding religion honestly made me wish there were more mainstream women / people of color who made songs about religion negatively or unconventionally.
THEN... I found Tanya Tagaq
Absolutely fucking haunting. Not only does she make some scary shit with her music, but it's also regarding the indigenous experience. Her music creeps tf out of me, and I love it. I feel she's underground waiting to be discovered.
